Fake Filmscore

Fake Filmscore is a cinematic project from Jacky Stoneygate. Its first album, Curious, is about to hit all the digital platforms; the single, Underground, is already available digitally just about everywhere, as a ‘collaboration’ with Stoneygate.

Curious, the initial album from Fake Filmscore is an imagined soundtrack to a movie that hasn’t yet been made, for Mark Haddon’s wonderful novel The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. It’s a curious blend of orchestral and electronic music (see what I did there?) with shades of John Carpenter mixed with a little Philip Glass and a touch of Eddie Vedder’s guitar-style on his recordings for the Into the Wild movie at times.

The focus for this project will be pretty much exactly what it says on the tin! It’s for music that sounds like it belongs in a film. I’m particularly interested in developing soundtracks for books that haven’t yet been adapted for film. And I’m not promising to stick with the genre of the first album. I think it’s going to depend very much on the book.

Have you read any good books lately that were so good that they should make a film version? Drop me a line and tip me off with your recommendations! Maybe your suggestion will be the page-turner that inspires the next Fake Filmscore?
